UN Security Council approves resolution calling for immediate ceasefire in Gaza

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is calling for an urgent ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian organization in Gaza, along with the liberation of all hostages.

Proposed by ten elected members of the council, the resolution garnered backing from the remaining fourteen council members. Following Monday’s vote, applause filled the council chamber.

The resolution appeals for a cessation of hostilities throughout the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, ending in two weeks. Furthermore, it insists on the release of all captives seized in southern Israel on October 7th.
