Pakistan is thinking about resuming trade with India, says Ishaq Dar

Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, recently discussed the prospect of resuming trade with India. This follows the cessation of trade between the two nations in August 2019, triggered by India’s decision to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing attendees at the Pakistan High Commission in London, following his participation in the Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels, the Foreign Minister emphasized the interest of Pakistani businessmen in reinitiating trade with India. He hinted at a potential shift in diplomatic strategy, expressing openness to exploring options for restarting trade.

This development occurs amidst persistent tensions arising from India’s actions in 2019, which Pakistan perceives as hindering the prospect of constructive dialogue between the two countries.
