Petrol prices in Pakistan have gone up once again, with a Rs. 5.36 per litre increase, setting the new rate at Rs. 272.15 per litre. The hike adds to the financial burden of citizens, especially daily commuters and motorbike users. Rising fuel costs are likely to push up transport fares and prices of essential goods. The government attributes the increase to global oil price fluctuations and the rupeeās exchange rate against the US dollar. Petrol rates in the country are revised bi-weekly based on international market trends.
