Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif have signed the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA), marking a major milestone in Pak-Saudi relations. The deal ensures that any armed attack on one country will be considered an attack on both, strengthening defence cooperation and regional security. Backed by Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the agreement highlights Pakistan’s role in safeguarding the Two Holy Mosques and reflects over eight decades of close partnership. The SMDA focuses on joint defence readiness, integration of military capabilities, and collective response to current and future security challenges.
