Human traffickers have devised a new method after strict checks on land routes, as FIA uncovered a fake football team scam. A group of 22 people posing as players traveled from Sialkot Airport to Japan using forged documents but were deported by Japanese authorities. The FIA arrested prime suspect Malik Waqas, who charged each person Rs. 4 million and prepared fake federation registrations, match schedules, and even counterfeit Foreign Affairs documents. An FIR has been registered in Gujranwala, and during interrogation, Waqas admitted to sending another fake team of 17 people to Japan in January 2024 using the same scheme.
