PTA Chairman Major General (Retd) Hafeezur Rehman has challenged the Islamabad High Court’s verdict declaring his appointment illegal and ordering his removal. The IHC, in a 99-page judgment by Justice Babar Sattar, ruled that his elevation did not meet legal requirements and directed a senior PTA member to serve as acting chairman until a fresh appointment is made. Rehman, appointed as Member Administration on May 24, 2023, and promoted to chairman the next day, argued in his appeal that his appointment was lawful and requested an urgent hearing. The court’s decision came after a petition highlighting procedural flaws in his appointment process.
