Government to Consult Coalition Partners on 27th Amendment: Dar

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has assured that all allied parties and stakeholders will be taken into confidence regarding the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, emphasizing that the draft will soon be handed over to a committee for detailed discussion. Addressing the Senate, Dar reaffirmed the government’s commitment to introducing the amendment, dismissing claims that it aims to roll back the 18th Amendment that granted provincial autonomy. He urged lawmakers to engage in constructive and professional debate rather than politicizing the legislative process. Accompanied by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Dar stated that the amendment bill would first be presented in the Senate, ensuring representation from all coalition partners and relevant committees, including the Standing Committee on Finance.
