Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has urged that politics should be kept out of sports, stressing that cricket should unite nations rather than divide them. He called on the International Cricket Council (ICC) and cricket boards worldwide to ensure fairness and allow players from all countries to participate freely in international leagues. Akram emphasized that political differences must not affect sports or limit players’ opportunities, saying that “sports are meant to unite people and promote friendship across borders.” He encouraged cricket authorities to act with integrity and courage in their decisions.
