The Supreme Court said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto didn’t get a fair trial

The final verdict regarding the trial and punishment of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto has been delivered by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, concluding that he was not afforded fair treatment. Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, along with eight other judges, announced this decision after thoroughly examining a request submitted in 2011 to reassess Bhutto’s case.

Emphasizing that the trial of Bhutto did not adhere to the requisite legal procedures mandated by the constitution, the ruling underscores the significance of ensuring fair trials and upholding constitutional rights for every individual, irrespective of their position or status. This significant pronouncement arrives almost 12 years following the submission of the request by former President and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
