Tarar: Security Forces Eliminate Dozens of Gul Bahadur Militants, No Civilian Casualties Reported

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar announced that Pakistan’s security forces conducted successful precision strikes on confirmed hideouts of the Gul Bahadur “Khawarij” group in North and South Waziristan, killing dozens of militants. He rejected media claims that civilians were targeted, calling them false and misleading. Tarar said that during a 48-hour ceasefire, militants operating from Afghanistan launched multiple attacks inside Pakistan, all of which were foiled by security forces. He confirmed that over 100 militants have been eliminated in recent retaliatory operations, including 60–70 fighters and key leaders in overnight strikes. The minister cited one VBIED attack in North Waziristan that killed a soldier and several civilians, saying the strikes were based on solid intelligence. Tarar dismissed reports of civilian casualties as propaganda spread by militant sympathizers. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance that lasting peace requires Afghanistan to rein in non-state actors but warned that Pakistan will not tolerate cross-border terrorism and will continue to defend its people and territory. The Foreign Office also stressed that Pakistan seeks no escalation but expects firm action against groups like the TTP and BLA threatening national security.
