The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ruled that all forms of talaq can be revoked within 90 days under Section 7 of the Muslim Family Laws Ordinance, 1961. The court clarified that divorce does not take effect immediately upon being pronounced; it becomes final only after the 90-day period unless either spouse withdraws it earlier. The judges noted that this period is designed to allow both sides time for reflection, reconciliation, and to prevent emotional or hasty divorces. If the talaq is withdrawn within these 90 days, the marriage remains valid and continues as normal.
