Supporters clash with police at PTI rally while leaders demand Imran’s release

On Sunday, PTI leaders held a rally near Islamabad, demanding the immediate release of their founder, Imran Khan, while criticizing the government for sidelining the party. Police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd.

Imran Khan has been in prison since last August but was expected to be released after a court accepted appeals against his conviction in the Iddat case. However, he was quickly arrested again in a new Toshakhana case.

Despite previous sentences being suspended and his acquittal in another case, the rally aimed to garner support for his release. PTI leader Hammad Azhar addressed the crowd, emphasizing the need for the rule of law and constitutional supremacy, while assuring supporters that they would secure Khan’s freedom.

Another leader, Ali Muhammad Khan, expressed his disbelief that Khan, who founded the party to help Pakistan, is in jail.
