Six inmates have been released from Central Jail Peshawar after being pardoned by military courts for their involvement in the May 9 incidents.
The six individuals, three from Murdan and three from Lower Dir, had been transferred to Peshawar prison after being convicted by military courts the previous week.
Earlier today, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced that 19 individuals convicted in the May 9 riots cases were granted pardons by the military courts.
According to the ISPR, these 19 convicts were involved in the May 9, 2023 riots and received clemency after submitting pleas for mercy. The statement added that during their sentences, the convicts exercised their legal right to request leniency and pardon.
In total, 19 convicts, along with 67 others involved in the events, submitted clemency petitions. Of these, 48 petitions were forwarded to the Courts of Appeal for legal review.
