Sindh Faces 50% Water Shortage, Endangering Kharif Crops

Sindh is facing a severe water crisis, with irrigation supplies dropping by 50% as the Kharif season begins. The situation is critical as both Tarbela and Mangla dams have reached dead levels, reducing water availability. Major water sources like the Guddu and Sukkur barrages are experiencing significant shortages, with the Sukkur Barrage providing limited water to Balochistan. This scarcity threatens vital crops, including mango orchards and cotton fields, putting farmers’ livelihoods at risk.
