Saudi Arabia Imposes 1,000 Riyal Fine for Feeding Pigeons in Makkah and Madina

Saudi authorities have banned feeding pigeons near Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid al-Nabawi in Madinah to maintain cleanliness and protect public health. Violators will face a fine of 1,000 Saudi Riyals under the new policy. Officials said the move aims to curb disease spread, reduce pollution, and prevent damage caused by large flocks of pigeons, especially in popular areas like “Kabootar Chowk.” Monitoring teams have been deployed to ensure compliance, and residents are urged to report violations. The Ministry of Health stated the measure supports ongoing efforts to uphold hygiene and preserve the sanctity of the holy cities.
