Punjab grants a record 111,000 driving licenses in one day

Punjab Police has achieved a remarkable feat by issuing an impressive 111,000 driving licenses in a single day. This initiative comes in the wake of a stringent crackdown on individuals found driving without proper licenses, prompted by a tragic incident in Lahore.

The issued licenses encompass various categories, including learning, national, and international types. The detailed breakdown indicates that 27,000 licenses were distributed in Lahore, with noticeable increases observed in other cities as well.

In a recent move, the Punjab government elevated the driving license fee from Rs60 to Rs1,000, effective from December 5. Notably, despite the fee adjustment, individuals are still able to apply at the previous fee rate until December 31. This strategic measure is geared towards enhancing road safety by ensuring that all drivers possess valid licenses.
