PML-N nominates Maryam Nawaz for Punjab Chief Minister

Tuesday saw the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) declaring Shehbaz Sharif as their prime ministerial nominee following internal deliberations.

There have been murmurs indicating that Maryam Nawaz, PML-N’s Chief Organiser, might be put forth as the contender for Punjab chief minister. However, the ultimate decision regarding the prime ministerial candidacy will be reached in collaboration with allied parties. Both Shehbaz Sharif’s candidacy for prime minister and Maryam Nawaz’s for Punjab chief minister have garnered the endorsement of Nawaz Sharif, PML-N’s leader.

Previously, Shehbaz Sharif, also serving as PML-N’s President, expressed his gratitude towards former President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for their support. He conveyed these sentiments in a statement disseminated via social media.

In the same statement, the former prime minister acknowledged a telephone conversation with Zardari and Bhutto-Zardari, expressing gratitude on behalf of Nawaz Sharif for their backing. Shehbaz Sharif also articulated his optimism that, united as a nation, they can confront Pakistan’s political and economic trials.
