Petrol price rises by 56 paisa per litre

Starting January 1, 2025, petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) prices have increased. Petrol now costs Rs252.66 per litre, up by 56 paisa, while HSD is priced at Rs258.34 per litre, a rise of Rs2.96. The Ministry of Finance announced these changes after its regular review of fuel prices. Earlier predictions suggested a bigger increase for HSD (Rs3.62) and a smaller rise for petrol (11 paisa).

The price changes are due to global oil market trends and adjustments in domestic taxes. These factors affect transportation costs, which may lead to higher prices for goods and services nationwide.
