Pakistan’s pace trio now leads in wickets at Asia Cup 2023

Following their remarkable performances in the Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan’s formidable fast bowling trio comprising Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah have witnessed substantial improvements in their standings within the International Cricket Council (ICC) one-day international (ODI) rankings.

Shaheen Shah Afridi has ascended four positions, securing the fifth spot in the rankings. This ascent can be attributed to his exceptional display, wherein he captured six wickets in two matches during the ongoing tournament. Meanwhile, Haris Rauf has made an impressive leap, surging 14 places to reach the 29th rank, and Naseem Shah has achieved his personal best ranking of 68th, marking a remarkable ascent for both pacers.

Their extraordinary performance took center stage in the match against their arch-rivals, India, where they managed to claim all 10 wickets. On the flip side, India’s emerging talents, Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, have also achieved career-high ratings, indicating their progress in the ICC ODI batsmen rankings.

Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 67* against Nepal has propelled him to an all-time high rating of 750 points, securing the third position in the ODI batsmen rankings. Similarly, Ishan Kishan’s outstanding 82 against Pakistan has earned him a new career-best rating of 624 points, accompanied by a notable ascent of 12 places to the 24th position in the latest ODI batsmen rankings, as reported by the ICC in an official press release.
