Pakistan’s IT exports Increased by 22.67% in December 2023, according to Dr. Umar Saif.

The Caretaker Minister for Information Technology, Dr. Umar Saif, shared encouraging updates regarding Pakistan’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. He disclosed a substantial 22.67% upswing in the country’s ICT export remittances, totaling $303 million, for December 2023. This noteworthy expansion follows a preceding surge of 13% recorded in November 2023.

Dr. Umar Saif attributed the robust growth in ICT exports to various supportive measures that have been implemented. These measures encompass enabling the retention of 50% of dollars, introducing digital payment systems, and launching programs to support freelancers. Expressing appreciation for the efforts of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar and the Special Investment Facilitation Council, Dr. Saif underscored their pivotal role in facilitating the IT industry. He emphasized that these policies are strategically crafted to bolster Pakistan’s national economy and promote the development of the IT and telecom sectors.

Dr. Saif holds an optimistic outlook on the ongoing progress, believing that the reforms introduced by the caretaker government will pave the way for significant growth in the industry. Overall, the announcement underscores positive trends in Pakistan’s ICT sector, highlighting the effectiveness of recent initiatives and policies.
