Pakistan rises to fourth place in the latest ICC World Test Championship rankings

Sri Lanka’s resounding triumph over Bangladesh in the initial Test match has left a notable mark on the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 standings, influencing Pakistan’s standing as well.

Following their commanding victory by 328 runs, Sri Lanka has undergone an impressive ascent in the rankings, rising from the bottom to a shared sixth place alongside Bangladesh. This triumph has earned Sri Lanka 12 points from three matches, resulting in a points percentage of 33.33. This advancement places them ahead of South Africa, currently holding a 25% points percentage, and England, positioned at the bottom of the table with a points percentage of 17.50.

Conversely, Pakistan has reaped the benefits of Sri Lanka’s win, ascending one spot in the rankings to claim the fourth position, boasting a points percentage of 36.66.

The West Indies, sharing a comparable points percentage with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, have surged to the fifth position due to a higher points tally.

This shift in rankings underscores the fluidity of the ICC World Test Championship and how individual match outcomes can significantly influence the standings.

Both Sri Lanka and Pakistan have demonstrated their prowess, with their enhanced positions reflecting their commendable performances in the championship.
