Pakistan Railways Cuts Power Costs by Rs1 Billion in 8 Months with Solarization

Pakistan Railways has saved over Rs. 1 billion in electricity costs in the last eight months by switching to solar energy and cracking down on electricity theft. Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, highlighted that these reforms are improving the financial health of the department. The Lahore Division led with savings of Rs. 416.6 million, followed by Mughalpura with Rs. 243 million, while divisions like Rawalpindi, Quetta, Karachi, Sukkur, Multan, and Peshawar also contributed significantly. The minister emphasized a zero-tolerance policy on electricity theft and praised teams nationwide for their efforts.
