OGDCL, Pakistan’s leading company in the oil and gas exploration sector, has achieved a significant breakthrough in gas exploration at the Chak 214-1 exploratory well situated in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab. OGDCL, the sole operator of the Mari East Block (with a 100% stake), has officially reported this remarkable discovery to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
The drilling of the Chak 214-1 well was conducted by OGDCL’s in-house experts and reached an impressive depth of 1,851 meters. During comprehensive testing carried out in the Dunghan Formation and the Sui Main Limestone (SML) reservoirs, gas flows of 1.1 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) and 1.31 mmscfd, respectively, were detected. This discovery marks a significant milestone and is notably the first of its kind within the Mari East Block.
