No Talks with PTI, Naqvi Rejects Imran Khan’s Protest Proposal

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s statement about receiving a government offer to delay his Islamabad protest has been rejected by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Speaking outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday, Naqvi firmly denied any negotiations with the former prime minister, stating, “The government has not engaged in talks with PTI under any circumstances, especially under threats.”

Earlier, Imran Khan claimed that senior PTI members, including Barrister Gohar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, informed him of an offer to postpone the November 24 protest, with assurances that “everything will be resolved” if the protest is delayed.

Naqvi dismissed these claims, reiterating, “No discussions are taking place with the PTI leader.”

The interior minister was attending a court hearing regarding a petition from Asad Aziz, President of the Traders Association, who raised concerns about PTI protests disrupting business activities.

Naqvi highlighted that the Belarusian president, along with a 65-member delegation, is scheduled to visit Pakistan on November 24. He emphasized the importance of securing the Red Zone during such critical diplomatic events and questioned PTI’s timing of protests.

“Why are protests always planned to coincide with foreign delegations’ visits? The nation should reflect on this,” he added.

Naqvi issued a stern warning to PTI supporters, stating that protests would not be permitted at Islamabad’s D-Chowk. “Protest within your province if you wish, but entering Islamabad for demonstrations will not be allowed. Violators will face strict action, just like before,” he warned.

Addressing concerns over roadblocks and internet shutdowns during protests, Naqvi clarified his stance. “I oppose the use of containers or road blockages. Such measures should not be taken,” he said.

As PTI prepares for its November 24 protest and the government braces for potential disruptions, tensions remain high amid the political and diplomatic developments.
