IHC Bars PTI from Weekend Protests, Delivering Setback

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has barred the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party from holding its planned protest in Islamabad on November 24, citing a newly implemented peaceful assembly law.

This decision was issued during a hearing where Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi appeared before the court. The court instructed authorities to establish a committee, preferably led by the interior minister, to engage with PTI leadership and highlight the importance of maintaining order during the Belarus president’s visit to Pakistan this weekend.

Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi rejected PTI chairman Imran Khan’s claim that the government offered him a deal to delay the Islamabad protest.

Speaking after the court session, Naqvi stated, “The government has not entered into any negotiations with PTI, especially under threats.” He emphasized that the claim was baseless and that no discussions had occurred.

PTI, under its detained leader Imran Khan, has announced a series of protests across Pakistan throughout November, culminating in a major rally in Islamabad on November 24.
