Mother’s Name to Be Added in New Pakistani Passports

The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports will soon begin including the mother’s name in all new Pakistani passports, according to multiple media reports. Director General Mustafa Jamal Qazi stated that the change aligns with international standards and aims to resolve legal and administrative challenges, especially for single mothers and their children. Currently, only the father’s name is listed on identity documents, often causing complications. Existing passports will remain valid until expiry, but all newly issued ones will feature both parents’ names.
