Mardan was plagued by persistent power outages, lasting for more than six hours each day.
On Wednesday, Secretary of the Power Division, Rashid Langrial, unveiled “The Mardan Model” in Islamabad. This pioneering initiative guarantees an end to power interruptions in the city, as it has successfully eradicated power theft and improved electricity bill collections. Consequently, Mardan has achieved the distinction of becoming Pakistan’s first city free from power theft.
Langrial emphasized that a concerted nationwide effort to combat power theft is currently underway, aligning with the directives of the Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar. He also emphasized that nationwide load shedding will cease only when all electrical feeders are safeguarded from theft.
