The Kurram grand jirga has successfully brokered a peace agreement, with both factions in the conflict signing the accord on Wednesday.
Officials stated that the tribes involved have pledged to fully implement the decisions made during the provincial APEX Committee meeting.
An official announcement of the peace deal will be made at the Governor House in Peshawar. As part of the agreement, all blocked roads in the Kurram district will be reopened, marking a significant step towards lasting peace in the area.
Over the past three weeks, the jirga has held discussions in Kohat to resolve issues related to the peace process. However, progress was hindered by disagreements, particularly over the requirement to surrender heavy weapons to national advisors.
While most aspects of the agreement have been settled, the unresolved issue of weapon surrender continues to delay the full implementation of the peace process.
