Jahangir Tareen, accompanied by defectors from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, has announced the launch of the Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party

Jahangir Khan Tareen, formerly a close associate of the PTI chief, has officially launched a new political party called the Istehkam-i-Pakistan Party (IPP). The announcement took place during a press conference in Lahore, where Tareen was joined by several other PTI defectors, including those who left the party following the May 9 incidents.

Among those standing alongside Tareen were Aleem Khan, another former confidant of the PTI chief, as well as Imran Ismail, Ali Zaidi, Fayyazul Hasan Chohan, and Amir Mehmood Kayani, who recently cut ties with PTI amidst a government crackdown on the party.

During the press conference, Tareen emphasized that the country was currently facing critical times. He expressed his motivation for forming a new party, stating that his involvement in politics was solely aimed at contributing to the progress of the country. Tareen mentioned that he was not a conventional politician and joined the PTI with the belief that the party’s platform could bring about the necessary reforms that Pakistan required and still requires.

Tareen acknowledged the efforts made to establish the PTI as a strong political force and stressed the party’s commitment to implementing reforms. However, he lamented that the party did not achieve the desired outcomes and people became disheartened.

Tareen underlined the PTI’s fundamental manifesto of bringing about economic improvement, fostering better international relations, and ensuring accountability. He expressed regret that these objectives were not fully realized.

Referencing the events of May 9, Tareen argued that they had transformed the political landscape of Pakistan. He passionately declared that accountability was crucial and vowed to bring the perpetrators of the May 9 incident to justice, emphasizing that attacks on the homes of political rivals would not be tolerated.

Tareen asserted the urgent need to steer Pakistan out of its current challenges and heal the wounds inflicted on the nation. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts in achieving this goal, expressing a determination to address the issues faced by the country.
