IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja states that the internet has not been shut down or slowed down by the state

The PTA clarified on Tuesday that VPNs are not being blocked in Pakistan, dispelling recent rumors. They assured the public that VPN usage remains unaffected.

IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja stated that the government has neither shut down nor slowed down the internet. Technical reports indicate that using VPNs can sometimes enhance internet speed by bypassing throttling.

VPNs have become crucial for many users in 2024, especially after the blocking of platforms like X (formerly Twitter) on February 19. They allow access to restricted websites and provide added privacy and security.

The PTA reminded users to register their IP addresses to avoid service interruptions. The registration process is simple, free, and usually takes 2-3 days, ensuring continued access to VPN services in compliance with national regulations.
