Indian Police Probe Suspected Suicide of Three Young Sisters

Indian police have launched an investigation into the suspected suicide of three young sisters in Ghaziabad near New Delhi, amid concerns that they were heavily influenced by online games, movies, and digital content, officials said on Thursday. The sisters, aged 12, 14, and 16, reportedly jumped from their home after being denied access to electronic devices and online entertainment, including K-pop music and Korean dramas. Police said the probe is based on a suicide note and mobile phones recovered from the scene, while also examining possible family financial stress. The incident has renewed debate in India over the impact of excessive screen time, addictive algorithms, and online exposure on children’s mental health, prompting some states to consider social media restrictions for minors.
