The Haryana government has recently launched a new scheme aimed at providing a monthly pension of Rs 2,750 to unmarried individuals aged between 45 and 60, as well as widowers between 40 and 60, who have low incomes. Eligible beneficiaries must have an annual income below Rs 3 lakh.
This welfare initiative will require an additional annual expenditure of Rs 240 crore by the state government. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has highlighted that there are approximately 65,000 unmarried individuals and 5,687 widowers who satisfy the prescribed age and income criteria. The primary objective of the monthly pension is to assist these individuals in meeting their personal expenses.
