During a televised speech, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced a significant reduction in petrol prices by up to Rs8 per litre. As a result, the price of petrol has been revised to Rs262 per litre, marking a reduction of Rs8. The Minister also mentioned that diesel prices will be adjusted to Rs253 per litre, reflecting a decrease of Rs5.
These revised prices will take effect from midnight tonight and will remain unchanged for the next two weeks, ensuring stability in the cost of petroleum products. Minister Dar highlighted the cumulative reductions observed in May, with petrol prices having decreased by a total of Rs20 per litre and diesel prices lowered by Rs35 per litre.
The government’s decision aims to alleviate the financial burden on the public and enhance the affordability of essential commodities.
