FBR Tax Collection Jumps 16% in August 2025

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected Rs 886 billion in August 2025, marking a 16% increase from July and an 11% rise compared to August last year. However, the figure fell short of the monthly target of Rs 951 billion by Rs 64 billion. In the first two months of FY2025-26, total collections stood at Rs 1,651 billion, missing the target of Rs 1,698 billion. Income tax contributed Rs 324 billion, sales tax Rs 353 billion, federal excise duty Rs 46 billion, and customs duty Rs 113 billion. The FBR faces an annual revenue target of Rs 14,131 billion under IMF commitments, requiring consistent monthly growth.
