In a policy shift, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the income tax return filing deadline for tax year 2025 until October 15. The extension, announced under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, came just as the Sept 30 deadline expired. The FBR said the decision was made after requests from trade bodies, tax bar associations, and the public, despite earlier statements ruling out any extension.
