Chief Justice has prohibited using the word “Sahib” for government officials

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has issued a firm directive to refrain from using the term “sahib” in reference to government officials’ titles.

This order was issued during a hearing concerning the bail application of a suspect implicated in the murder of a 10-year-old child in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

Expressing dissatisfaction with the provincial police’s investigation, CJP Isa reproached the public prosecutor for addressing a deputy superintendent of police as “sir.” Justice Isa emphasized that using such titles had a detrimental impact and clarified that the official in question was merely a DSP and, in his view, an incompetent one.
