An audit report presented to the Punjab Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee-III has revealed that solar panels worth over Rs6.5 million were stolen from 50 government schools in Rajanpur district during 2022–23. The committee raised serious concerns and directed police to widen investigations across the province, warning of similar incidents in other districts. Members urged strict instructions for district police officers and demanded a full record of affected schools along with updates on the recovery of stolen panels. While the Education Department confirmed police cases had been registered, the Audit Department criticized local authorities for failing to safeguard the installed panels.
