A severe flood threat loomed over Jalalpur Pirwala in Multan district on Sunday as rising water levels in the Chenab River forced mass evacuations of the city’s 500,000 residents. Authorities confirmed that several low-lying areas were already submerged and could be completely underwater by nightfall. Police and rescue teams, backed by helicopters, were deployed to evacuate people from hard-to-reach locations. Officials revealed that an attempt to breach a bund and divert the floodwater was blocked by villagers, leaving the city vulnerable as water continued to flow in.
