Aima Baig to Perform at Asia Cup Opener

The Asia Cup 2023’s opening ceremony in Multan on Wednesday will feature performances by the exceptionally talented singers Aima Baig and Trishala Gurung. This grand event is set to precede the tournament’s inaugural match, pitting Pakistan against Nepal at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Scheduled from August 30 to September 17, the Asia Cup 2023 is co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. However, not all matches will be held in Pakistan, as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opted not to send their team to Pakistan, citing security concerns.

Pakistan finds itself in Group A, competing alongside Nepal and India, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka. Four matches will take place in Pakistan, while the remaining nine, including the final, will be hosted in Sri Lanka.

This year’s Asia Cup is notably different from previous editions as it adopts the 50-over format, providing teams with valuable preparation for the World Cup in India later in the same year. The last 50-over Asia Cup was held in 2018, with India emerging as the defending champion from that competition.
