Toyota Plans to Build Space Rockets

Toyota, a global leader in the auto industry, is stepping into space exploration. The company has announced a 7 billion yen (around $44.4 million) investment in Interstellar Technologies, a Japanese spaceflight startup. This move marks Toyota’s entry into rocket development.

Akio Toyoda, Toyota’s Chairman, stated that the company is broadening its focus beyond cars, aiming to explore opportunities in orbital rockets. Toyota’s vision is to shape the future of mobility, both on Earth and in space.

The investment will support Interstellar Technologies in building advanced rockets for satellite launches. Toyota plans to use its expertise in mass production to make rocket manufacturing more efficient and affordable.

This initiative aligns Toyota with Mitsubishi, another major Japanese company active in the space sector, showing the growing interest of Japanese businesses in global space exploration.
