President Asif Ali Zardari has ordered authorities to take all possible steps to reduce loadshedding nationwide, according to a statement from the President’s Secretariat.
During a meeting on water resource management at Aiwan-i-Sadr, he noted that current energy shortfalls are linked to the regional situation. He stressed that any load management must be transparent, announced in advance, and carried out in a way that minimizes inconvenience to the public.
The directive comes a day after the government introduced over two hours of daily peak-hour loadshedding to avoid a sharp rise in electricity tariffs.
