A suspect arrested in the kidnapping of his 23-year-old friend in Karachi has confessed to murdering the victim, Mustafa Amir, for ransom and dumping his body in the Malir River. However, police have yet to recover Mustafa’s body. The incident occurred on January 6 when Mustafa was abducted from Karachi’s Khayaban-e-Muhafiz area by Armaghan, a drug dealer and friend of the victim. Armaghan later admitted to killing Mustafa three days prior. A kidnapping case was registered at the Darakhshan police station, and police have recovered Armaghan’s mobile phone and car, but the victim’s body remains missing.
Mustafa’s parents criticized the Karachi police for their negligent investigation and delayed action to extract a confession from the suspect. SSP Anil Haider of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) stated that the murder occurred amid a dispute among international drug dealers. Based on the suspect’s identification, police carried out raids in two locations in Malir. During a raid on a bungalow in Karachi’s Defence Khayaban-e-Momin area, suspects opened fire on law enforcement officers.
