Zahir Jaffer Petitions President After Supreme Court Upholds Death Sentence

Zahir Jaffer, convicted of murdering Noor Mukadam in July 2021, has filed a clemency plea after the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence in May. This is his final legal option to avoid execution. As per Pakistani law, a psychiatric evaluation is required for the plea to proceed. In response, Adiala Jail officials have requested the formation of a medical board to assess his mental health. The board’s report will be crucial in determining whether the clemency request will be considered.
