UK to Deny Citizenship to Applicants Who Can’t Speak English Under New Rule

The United Kingdom has announced a new immigration policy requiring all citizenship applicants, including family members and dependents, to demonstrate strong English language skills. Introduced under Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s new Immigration White Paper, the policy aims to tighten immigration controls and promote better integration into British society. As part of the reforms, individuals who cannot prove their ability to speak and understand English will no longer be eligible to apply for UK citizenship.
