Trump Administration May Lay Off 300,000 Workers

The Trump administration plans to cut around 300,000 federal jobs, reducing the workforce by at least 12.5% since January, according to newly appointed Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor. He said 80% of employees are expected to leave voluntarily, while 20% will be terminated. This move nearly doubles last month’s layoffs of 154,000 as part of President Trump’s push to downsize the 2.4 million-strong federal civilian workforce, which he calls bloated and inefficient. Kupor noted he must persuade cabinet secretaries to support his vision for government efficiency.
