Torkham Border Shut After Pakistan-Afghanistan Border Clashes

The Torkham border between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been closed once again following fresh clashes between border forces from both sides. Officials confirmed that the shutdown, ordered after an overnight exchange of fire, has suspended all trade and pedestrian movement, leaving thousands stranded. Cargo trucks have been diverted to Landi Kotal as the situation remains tense. This is not the first time tensions have disrupted border operations — a similar closure in February and March this year caused severe economic losses, with trade worth millions halted for nearly a month. Negotiations between tribal elders had previously helped reopen the crossing, but renewed hostilities have once again sealed the key trade route, impacting both nations’ economies.
