The monthly rental fee for gas meters has been raised from Rs. 40 to Rs. 500.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has recently raised the rental fees for gas meters, causing further difficulties for the already struggling population. The increase is significant, with the monthly fee rising from Rs. 40 to Rs. 500. Additionally, new regulations have been implemented, requiring users to pay a minimum of Rs. 500 each month, regardless of their gas usage. Media reports suggest that this decision by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has been made in response to the nation’s severe financial crisis. However, the decision will not apply to customers who have gas bills less than 0.9 cubic hectare in November and December. In February of this year, the OGRA had also announced a substantial increase of almost 124% for certain categories of users of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines and Sui Southern Gas Company.
