The Bangladesh Cricket Board has hired Mushtaq Ahmed as the spin bowling coach

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that Mushtaq Ahmed, a former Pakistani leg-spinner and World Cup champion, will be the new spin bowling coach for the Bangladesh cricket team.

Mushtaq will start his role before the preparation camp for the T20 series against Zimbabwe later this month. His contract will run until the end of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

With previous coaching stints for England, West Indies, and Pakistan, Mushtaq brings extensive experience. He’s also worked as a bowling consultant for Pakistan.

In his playing days, Mushtaq took 185 wickets in 52 Test matches and 161 wickets in 144 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Pakistan. He played a crucial role in Pakistan’s 1992 Cricket World Cup victory.

His vast experience as both player and coach makes him a valuable addition to the Bangladesh team, especially in spin bowling.
