On Friday, the National Assembly was informed about the revenue generated by major social media platforms in Pakistan for the 2023-24 fiscal year, totaling Rs 7.129 billion from Pakistani users.
Of this amount, Rs 785 million was collected in taxes. In response to an inquiry from Wajiha Qamar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb provided details from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). According to the records, Google generated Rs 6.876 billion, while Facebook and WhatsApp together earned Rs 343 million.
