Sindh government instructs filing FIRs against ‘parking mafia’ in Karachi

The government of Sindh in Pakistan has opted to initiate an extensive crackdown on the extortion racket disguising itself as charged parking within the region. Municipal and development bodies have received directives to promptly halt this practice and liaise with the police to file First Information Reports (FIRs) against individuals engaged in the unauthorized collection of parking fees.

This decision follows a court order instructing civic agencies to put an end to illicit charged parking areas in Karachi, as they have been identified as a major contributor to traffic congestion.

The authorities are committed to taking stringent measures against those affiliated with the parking mafia, aiming to ensure proper regulation of parking fees within designated areas.
